About Ataxia and Me

Ataxia and Me has been established to raise awareness of ataxia in Wales, the UK and around the world. Our mission is to provide information and support to everyone affected by this “life-limiting” condition. We focus on ataxia but aim to incorporate associated rare diseases and movement disorders as well.

We are a patient focused Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) 1184030, based in Wales with a Global following. We are very positive, and have a good outlook, with the saying “patients helping patients”.

Work Experience:

International Ataxia Awareness Day:

Our logo, an image of a brain with the cerebellum, the part of the brain which creates the issues that make up Ataxia, are highlighted using a tessellation of Hexagons.

Following discussions with Cardiff University, we have established work experience placements for students. We have developed a structured plan to support the progression of Ataxia and Me, whilst also enhancing the students’ experience. To our joy and surprise, we received 11 applicants for the first year’s cohort. We plan to run this programme annually.

On September 25th, individuals and Ataxia organisations around the world help shed light on this rare disease. Ataxia could be the most serious condition you have never heard of.

If you are affected by Ataxia, whether as a patient, family member, carer, relative, Healthcare professional or friend, join us on this adventure of Ataxia awareness and communication.
